We spent Halloween weekend in Virginia with Rory and Sonya. Their ward celebrated Halloween at a local zoo, it was a ton of fun.

Trunk or Treat!

Our ward celebrated Halloween this year with a Trunk or Treat Tuesday night. Logan dressed up as Peter Pan, and we decorated our trunk with spiders, spider webs, and dry ice fog. Later at home we had fun playing with the dry ice as well.

Alonzo Stagg Hike

The Alonzo Stagg Hike is a 50 mile hike along the C&O canal that our ward participates in every year. I had tried it once in high school but did it just to socialize with friends, so I only went a few miles. This year I was determined to finish it. The hike starts at 9:00pm Friday night, and in order to officially complete the hike and receive a medal you have to finish all 50 miles by 3:00pm Saturday afternoon. That's 18 agonizing hours of walking - it was a VERY long night. About 90 people started the event and only a handful finished it. I was able to keep a steady but moderate pace the whole time and was able to avoid any serious blisters (good socks make all the difference in the world.) I walked the entire time except 3 miles that I ran and managed to finish in 16 hours. Luckily, I was able to hike with someone who was at the same pace as I was, or else it would've been a lonely 16 hours. It was the most excruciating thing I've ever done - the last 10 miles were absolutely torturous. I was barely able to move for the next two days (I had to hobble around) and still today, 5 days since finishing, I have knee pains and blisters on my feet. I'm certainly glad that I did it once... but I'm never doing it again.
