We spent Christmas this year in Othello, Washington. This is one of the last times Tiffany's family will have every family member there. Matt and Momo are going on missions soon and most of the other married couples have moved away. Momo made the trip up from Louisiana so we we're especially glad to see her again.

The hit gift this Christmas was the Nintendo Wii that Santa gave to me. Santa worked hard to get it, waiting in line outside of a Target store ALL NIGHT in the cold, but it was definitely worth it. We had nightly bowling tournaments that, surprisingly, Tiffany's dad seemed to enjoy the most. To everyones disbelief (especially Jim's) Logan the 3 year old beat all of us grown ups hands down every night. Go figure...

Samara Standing on my Hands

I've always wanted a child who wouldn't be too scared to do this. Logan was a chicken about it but Samara absolutely loves it! It makes it hard to hold her because she squeals and squirms as soon as I start.

Mike and Tara's Wedding

Mike and Tara's wedding was November 22, 2006. The day before Thanksgiving and the day before our wedding anniversary. Tara is from Utah but was glad to leave the state (can you blame her) and get married here at the DC temple.

Vanessa Comes to Visit

Our good friend Vanessa from our missions to Russia flew out from Utah to visit us and see the sites. We hung out at the Inner Harbor and went to see the new Australian exhibit in the Baltimore Aquarium. There was a nice storm that moved into the area while we were there. The wind from the storm literally pushed the water up over the sidewalks next to the harbor. I think it would've blown Logan away if we weren't holding on to him.

Vanessa spent a couple of days in DC, taking in as much as she could. She probably could've spent a whole week here and still not have seen everything she wanted. She'll just have to come out again!

Logan the Movie Director

So I have this little $30 video camera that I grab whenever I quickly want to record something. Most of the Youtube videos I do are filmed with it since the video quality doesn't matter all that much after Youtube compresses the heck out of them. Because it was so cheap I don't mind if Logan plays around with it.

After letting him film away I found it fascinating to watch what he decided to film. It's so cute to get into his world and see things from his point of view. Most of the time it's nothing too spectacular but he films things that are important to him. He always does close ups of his favorite toys. In this one he shows off some "Cars" toys and shows us that he can turn off the basement lights. I'd like to give him a camera to use all day and see what he comes back with. I think it's so neat to watch.

Logan is really into the Pixar movie Cars right now, so he decided to dress up as a racing pit crew member. Samara wore an adorable lady bug outfit. She is a little sick so she doesn't enjoy the whole dress up routine all that much, but she was a good sport. We went trick-or-treating in our friends neighborhood. Logan made out like a bandit! He didn't even get scared at the houses with the haunted soundtracks and gruesome decorations!

Alonzo Stagg Hike

Round two, Walk!!

I did it again. 50 miles. 16 hours. Non stop. Pain. Torture.

That about sums up the Alonzo Stagg Hike. An all night 50 mile hike along the C&O canal thats quasi sponsored by our ward boy scouts (no one really likes to officially sponsor it due to liability reasons.) It starts at 9pm Friday night and ends at 3pm the next day. Finish in that time frame and for all your hard work you get a nifty little medal. Nobody does it strictly for the medal though. The sickos (and there are only a handful that finish it every year out of almost a hundred) like me that finish it do it to prove something to themselves. That they can push their body beyond the breaking point and keep going. I made a promise to myself two years ago after finishing it for the first time that I'd never do it again. But as time went by, the memories of the intense pain faded I kept looking forward to the next one. I recovered quicker this year and even managed to hobble to the ward Progressive dinner Saturday night in relative ease. I'll be looking forward to the next hike in 2007!

Howard County Fair

We had a great time at the Howard County Fair. Logan is old enough to really enjoy the rides and roller coasters now. He was super excited at just about everything there, especially that he might get some cotton candy. Tiffany and I enjoyed a good old fashioned funnel cake covered in powdered sugar and strawberries... it doesn't get much better than that. I love walking around the farm animals, tractors, 4h displays, and my favorite - the bee hives (I've always wanted to be a bee keeper). Catching a glipse of the simpler life is refreshing sometimes.

F1 Race at Indianapolis

Dad and I drove overnight to Indianapolis for a weekend of racing. We sat in the blistering 90 degree heat for three days watching all sorts practice sessions, qualifying, and the actual races. Good old Michael Schummacher won the pole position and the race. The sound those cars make is absolutely mind blowing. The TV cameras don't even begin to record the true sound the cars make. Of course the speed of the cars in amazing, but perhaps even more awesome is the braking power of the cars. We sat at a sharp corner and watched as the cars slammed on the brakes after a fast straight away. The sight, sound, and smell (unburnt fuel gets pumped out of the engine during braking) is something all guys would appreciate.

Samara's Blessing - Fathers' Day

Today was a perfect fathers' day; I was able to give Samara her infant's blessing. It was a beautiful day to celebrate fatherhood with a newborn child. What sweet little angel.

I finally graduated. Although it seemed to take forever, looking back now I realize it went by very, very fast. I graduated with two, count em - two, degrees! Both Bachelor's of Arts in Information Systems, and Modern Language and Linguistics. I'm actually going to miss school (except math!). I look forward to going back for a Master's degree sometime in the future. Now I just need to find a job!!

Samara is here!

Our baby girl has arrived and she's absolutely gorgeous. She was born on April 26th 2006 at 9:02am. She weighed a healthy 7 lbs. 10 oz and was 19" tall. The birth was done via C-Section as planned and Tiffany recovered well. Samara has been home for two weeks now and is an absolute blessing to have around. Logan has been the best big brother and loves to hold her and give her kisses (just wait till she wants to play with his toys!) Tiffany's mom and sister were able to visit for 10 days to help Tiffany out. It was so good to have some of Tiff's family out here again, I know she really loved it. I must say I'm one proud papa, Samara is going to be a daddy's girl!

Easter 2006

We had a great little Easter with Logan. A little while back Tiffany and I were shopping for baby clothes for our soon to be Samara and saw this adorable little suit for boys. Logan tried it on in the store and we just couldn't resist buying it. Tiffany had to skip out of the annual Easter egg hunt put on by our friends since she's not feeling well. We're ready for this baby to pop out!

Logan's 3rd Birthday

Logan celebrated his 3rd birthday this past Saturday. For months we've been telling him that we'd take him to the Build a Bear shop in the mall. It was no surprise when he chose to build a kitty cat - outfitted in a Buzz Lightyear costume no less. He had an awesome dinosaur themed birthday party, complete with a real lava spewing volcano! A very pregnant Tiffany even did a little dinosaur dance with all the kids. It was cute!

Random January Pics

Heres a group of pictures of Logan and his cousins hangin' out at one of the local zoo's near Rory and Sonya's house. All of the boys were put to task raking leaves in Rory's yard (that slave driver!). Having all of the little guys around actually makes the work tolerable, and dare I say it - fun!

This month we had our infamous aquarium incident. I came up to Logan's room where Logan and Jason were both playing to find toys, coins, marbles, and magnets in the bottom of Logan's fish tank. I started fuming and inquired as to who did it. Jason, with his shirt soaked, replied "Logan did". When I asked Logan if he really did do it he said "Yeah, I did". Logan has been known to fess up to things even when he had no part in them before. Either way, they both got punished. :)
Boys will be boys.
